TruckIRS Shocks

Shock Info

The factory Lincoln Mark8 / Tbird shocks cannot be used in the truckIRS application. They do not have the proper upper mount… and they are too long.

The recommended shock is 12″ mounting from eye to eye using 1/2″ mounting hardware.

Here are a few options:
1. a chrome Carrera 2254 ( available from a number of sources for about $55 each )

2. Monroe makes a front shock for a 1970 – 1982 chevy blazer. The Monroe part number is 33033 for about $20 each

Monroe makes the identical part for Napa – and Napa’s part number is 94005 for about $50 each.
Monroe also makes an identical part for Advanced Discount Auto – Adv. Disc Auto’s part number is 59041 for about $25 each

If you would like an alternate shock, look for a shock with a compressed length of 10 1/8″ and an extended length of 14 5/8″

It has been my experience that the metal bushing sleeves are not always included when you purchase shocks.
For this reason, I include a pair of 1 3/8″ long steel bushing sleeves for the upper shock mounts included with the truckIRS hardware package. You may or may not need these included bushing sleeves for the upper shock mounts… again, sometimes they are included with the shocks, and sometimes they are not.
